Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #9: The Incarnation of God

Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #9: The Incarnation of God: "After viewing 'The Nativity Story', analyzing your chosen Christmas carol, and reading Philippians 2:1-7, reflect on the meaning of Christma..."

Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Hallelujah
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born

I have chosen silent night for my Christmas carol. Jesus is described as a 'holy infant' that angels will sing hallelujah for. The scriptures, songs and stories say that he is the savior and king. In the verse i have chosen it emphasizes Jesus's actual birth taking place at that moment and how angels are singing and shepherds 'quake' at the sight. It was necessary for Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the Persian astrologers all to believe in God and to have faith in him. Jesus came to earth as a baby to live exactly like a human so he could interact with us. He wanted to live among the people of this earth as he grew up and God chose this method to deliver Jesus because it shows God is personal.

Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #8 Islam: Two Perspectives

Modern Religious Experience: Reflection #8 Islam: Two Perspectives: "Find where Islamic religious beliefs intersect with current events. Research a Western news source on the story and summarize the article fr..."

In the Article from the western perspective the main view of the writer is quite negative. Quotes are taken from people saying that they are still 'wounded and our hearts are bleeding' and others also say that the mosque should not be built at all 'It should be a landmark building. It should not be a mosque'. Overall the article is based on saying that the building of the mosque is an offence to 9/11 victims. The article also goes on the say that it is possible that the mosque could be demolished.
In the article from the Islamic's country perspective there is absolutely no negative statement about the building of the mosque. The article only included President Obama's support for the building of the mosque and gave no negative view of the mosque. The rest of the article is just simple details on how the mosque would be built and funded.
Each of these articles addressed the different view points of the country and they are very contrasting.
